This first discovered defect was believed to be the cause of soot damage and negative health symptoms. The home was restored after stray wool fiberglass insulation was removed from the HVAC system, that was against electric heating coils. Since two other builder errors were also causing soot, the soot damage returned almost immediately after renovation was completed. Allstate insurance covered a portion of the first soot damages, but denied a second claim, as builder defects are excluded from the policy coverage.
